For more than 25 years Best Friends has rescued and rehabilitated animals on the verge of euthanization. Their revolutionary programs save millions of animals each year.
While donors and adopters across America visit their multiple adoption centers, few have visited their Animal Sanctuary in Utah, the seeding ground for their programs and foundation.
To bring their Sanctuary to their donors and supporters, we created a revolutionary VR 360° film, telling their remarkable story through the eyes of the founders and special guests. We also produced one of the world's largest Virtual Reality fundraising activations, synchronizing over 200 VR headsets at their annual gala in NYC.

CREATIVE DISCOVERY TRIP
To bring their story to life, we first embarked on a journey to The Sanctuary to learn about their programs and history.
Given the scale of their operations, and to represent their story in its best light, we used this time with our team to facilitate creative development before bringing our production team to Utah.
Following the trip, we wrote their story helping plan the production phase.
MAKING A VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE
Using a combination of documentary and cinematic immersive media formats, we spent 2 weeks in Utah filming a dynamic and inspiring VR 360° film, pushing the boundaries of both immersive storytelling and how such films are created.
The experience transformed how donors and supporters of Best Friends experience their history, programs, and sanctuary.
PRODUCING AN EVENT WITH OVER 200 VR HEADSETS SYNCHRONIZED
In partnership with Samsung, we produced one of the world's first and largest VR live-sync activations, placing over 200 guests in VR headsets at the same time.
This allowed all attendees at their event to virtually visit the Sanctuary, experiencing firsthand the power of their programs and the revolutionary impact that has had on millions of animals for over 25 years.
The output increased donations, advocacy, and engagement, becoming one of their most powerful activations to date.
USING VR BEYOND THE EVENT
Beyond the gala, Best Friends utilizes the VR experience at their adoption centers and at the Sanctuary itself!
Upon arrival at their facilities across America, visitors had the option of visiting the Sanctuary virtually, experiencing first-hand the place where it all began!
